$1.5 - 2B Budget Deficit

Unregulated growth of government agencies and employees, undisciplined spending and a depletion of the State's "rainy day" fund have left us with a structural deficit that can no longer be plugged by federal "bail-out" stimulous funds.

We have to find the political will on Beacon Hill to address the core problem. Spending money we don't have!

We've got to sift through the budget to find where state dollars are being wasted and do all we can to protect our towns from further cuts to Local Aid.

  • Reduce the state’s workforce to a level - we have more state employees now than in 2000, which was the last time we had the same population count.
  • Repeal the Pacheco law, which limits the state’s ability to choose the most efficient way to deliver services.
  • Eliminating benefits given to Illegal Immigrants would also provide a huge savings, plus insure that jobs are going to documented citizens of the state.
  • We have to stop corporate giveaways to industries who, in turn, don't create jobs here in Massachusetts... Just look at Evergreen Solar - $60M in tax credits, only to have jobs go to China.

Times are hard and no decision on the budget will be easy. But it will take fiscal discipline to get us out of the red and it has to happen now!
