The Issues The 187th General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts faces major hurdles due to the continued economic crisis that has affected our country and our state. A structural deficit, rising healthcare costs and a depleted "rainy day" fund threaten to make the 2011 session a major step back from the progress we need to make in order to serve the people of our great state.

Massachusetts, home to the "cradle of liberty," has a long, proud history of leading our nation with ideas and industries like education, medicine, financial services, agriculture and fishing. The rich history of the Commonwealth, the work ethic of its people and the dedication to the arts and culture make this one of the most attractive places to live or visit - from the Berkshires, to the Cape and throughout the urban environments of Boston and Worcester.

My district of Abington, Whitman & East Bridgewater falls more along the lines of "bedroom" communities with an added mix of light retail and industrial sections. Home to rich tradition, great schools and small businesses, the 7th Plymouth has had its challenges during this period, but has risen to meet them with pride and hard work.

I am honored to have the opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder all the other Legislators, to roll up our sleeves, and to fight to bring Massachusetts its best day yet. To do that, we're going to have to focus on some key issues... Here are some of my concerns and ideas:

$1.5 - 2B Budget Deficit

Soaring Healthcare Costs

Help Small Businesses - Reduce Tax Burden and Red Tape

Keep Education Affordable AND Accountable

I will be adding and updating issues to this page as my work in the State House progresses. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me with YOUR concerns and ideas, as I beleive collaboration will help us all gain a better understanding for our future!
