The District The 7th Plymouth District has a history of producing strong leaders of our towns, our state and our nation. Recent State Representatives include; Mike Sullivan, U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts and former Plymouth County DA. Andrew Card, White House Chief of Staff under George W. Bush. Ron Whitney, prominent local Attorney and Selectman for the town of Abington. Also, Ned Kirby, the man who almost single-handedly brought the commuter rail to the South Shore.

Abington The retirement home of famed boxer, John L. Sullivan, Abington is also host to Island Grove park, which was an important meeting place for abolitionists during the mid-nineteenth century. In fact, during the Civil War, Abington's extensive shoe and boot industry supplied over half of the Union troops' footwear. East Bridgewater The lands that would become East Bridgewater were first settled by Europeans in 1630 as an outgrowth of the Plymouth and Duxbury plantations. It was a part of Olde Bridgewater, as the "East Parish" founded in 1723, until it officially separated from Bridgewater and incorporated on June 14, 1823. The town's distinguished past includes a historic agreement between Indians and the early settlers at the Sachem Rock site on Plymouth Street. Also, the first triphammer to make scythes, axes and other edged tools was established in town in 1740, and cannons and muskets for the revolution were made in East Bridgewater. Whitman Once known as 'Little Comfort' and 'South Abington,' Whitman has a rich history of innovation and civic duty. Home of the Toll House Cookie , America's first bell foundry (Where Paul Revere learned bell casting), and the Regal and Commonwealth Shoe Factories, Whitman is also known for having the first Massachusetts regiment report for duty following Abraham Lincoln's call for volunteers to the Civil War.
